Well, I hate that I have gone so very long and not written any updates. Logan is 7 months old now and just growing and changing every day. We just had his first Thanksgiving and he enjoyed his very own version of Turkey, sweet potatoes and green beans for the day. He is eating lots of different solid foods and enjoying them quite a bit. He LOVES to eat! We are up to feeding him 3 meals of solid food a day, which also means he doesn’t nurse as much, either. Which is a little sad for me. But as soon as he stops nursing, that will just mean I’ll be ready for another baby!

We are looking forward to our first Christmas with Logan. Even though he won’t really understand what all is going on, I think he’ll enjoy the lights and the tree. I just hope he doesn’t enjoy the tree UP CLOSE. He is starting to get mobile on the floor, although he’s not crawling, he does roll and I guess he figures that gets him where he wants to go, so its good enough for now. Fine by me cause I am not rushing him!

We’re not real sure what we are going to get him for Christmas yet. He LOVES Elmo (and Sesame Street), the Wiggles, and Its a Big Big World as far as TV goes. I am thinking something that plays music and wiggles or something. I think he’ll also enjoy some interactive toys for his age. I am going to try not to get him a lot because I know our families will want to get him some stuff. We won’t have anywhere to put everything if Alan and I get him too much. But we’ll have to have that first Christmas morning of him waking up and coming into the living room and seeing his toys on video. Its the memories for Alan and I that are necessary.

A couple of Saturdays ago I as getting ready to head to Birmingham with a friend and Alan was watching a John Mayer concert on TV. Logan was in his lap and fell asleep listening to and watching the tv. Ever since then, if we play that concert he will just chill out and watch it like its elmo. Its so funny. I guess our 7 month old is a John Mayer fan. Fine with us, we both really like John Mayer and went to his concert in Birmingham at the beginning of October. We had a good time, but it was the longest I had ever left him. Mom and Daddy kept him, fed him, bathed him and put him to bed. It was a milestone for me. But I survived! AND I only text messaged my mom once to check on him.

I am going to try and post some pictures, so check the photo page. I will also try and keep the blog updated. I meant to do better so maybe I can make up for it and try and post every week or so!

So, basically, that means that I’ll be able to start posting again! I know its been entirely TOO long and Logan is now 10 1/2 months old, but I just had the worst excuse for a computer at my house for so long that it made it practically impossible to do anything on except look at a web page or two now and then….ok, I’m exaggerating just a little, but it was slower than Christmas, trust me! But now I am in the 21st century with my pretty new Mac and I’m loving it. So, I’m going to try and start posting more often and putting up new pictures of Logan, too. That said, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE check back often and I’ll have some good stuff to tell you about!

Now, on to Logan, which is why I’m on here anyway, right? He turned 10 months on February 24th and will be a year old on April 24th! I honestly cannot believe he is almost a year old. The time really has flown by. Babies do grow up so fast right before your eyes. Its sad!

Logan is crawling like a champ, and likes to move a little faster when he sees you coming for him. He’s is pulling up on everything and climbing on anything he can get his little foot on. We had to take out the bumper pads because he was stepping on them, so we did that and dropped his mattress down. We’ll hear him in the mornings (when he actually sleeps in his bed all night) waking up and then by the time we get in there he’s standing up peering over the rail and grinning like a possum!

He is loving on Blue’s Clues right now like crazy! He still gets really excited over Elmo (and I already bought him a TMX for his birthday! I can’t wait to play with it!). Alan had discussed, and gone back and forth about whether or not to get him a puppy for his birthday. He is so crazy about dogs. He will giggle until he loses his breath over them! So, we have to decide if we’re going to get him one for his birthday or for Christmas.

Logan’s first birthday party will be at our house but I haven’t decided what “theme” I want to use. Probably something to do with a farm…maybe Elmo, too. We’ll see.

I’m going to post some pics today, so go check them out. Until then, check out this cutie the other morning after working on his hairdo ALL night…

Logan is 3 months old today and I really can’t believe its been that long! He is growing up so fast and starting to do so many new things! He can roll over onto his tummy from his back but he’s yet to figure out how to roll off his tummy to his back. Now that he can roll over, we really have to watch where we put him if we have to walk out of the room for a second. He can get from his back to his tummy pretty quickly. He’s so funny, too, because he will just grin like a possum every time he does like “Look what I did!” Its really cute.

He’s also holding his head up really good now. He’ll roll onto his tummy and just look around and grin at you. I wanted to post a good picture we took of him on his tummy with his head up, but this computer I am having to use in place of ours while its “in the shop” wouldn’t let me post any for some reason. So, I’ll be calling Steven here in a little bit to figure out what’s going on. As soon as I get if figured out, I’ll have some new pictures to post. So check back!

Last Tuesday night I let him sleep in his crib, in the nursery, all night. He got up once to eat but slept there all night. I was afraid he’d wake up crying since he hasn’t slept in there yet, but he didn’t. I guess those daytime naps in there helped him become familiar with the crib. He hasn’t slept in there since, but I’m working on it! Alan said “Why do you think he needs to go in there now? He’s not even 3 months old yet!” Of course, that was last week and now he is 3 months old. He’s only supposed to sleep in the bedside crib in our room until he’s 3 months. It really makes me sad to think about him not being right there when I wake up in the middle of the night!

He is finally starting to sleep through the night some. He’ll get up once to eat about that’s about it. That usually only lasts about 15 minutes, so I’m thinking its just a comfort thing and maybe we can break that soon. We’ll see. He’s also starting to really pay attention to voices and noises in the room. He’ll turn his head to see Alan when he says something and will grin from ear to ear at him. I’ll read books to him during the day and he’ll just look at the pictures so intently its like he is reading along with me. He loves to hear me read books. I need to buy some more because we’ve almost read all the ones he has. I bet he wouldn’t remember if I read one twice, though, huh? After we’ve played and giggled and read books, Logan’s other past time during the day is watching t.v. He really loves Sesame Street already! (I think Elmo and the Cookie Monster are his favorites!) He also watches Charlie & Lola, which happens to be my favorite.
Logan can really cackle out loud pretty good now, too. Although he really makes me work for it. But in the end, the work is worth it to hear him laugh like he does. Its so funny how each parent in the world is so amazed and eager to share with other people things their baby does. Every baby does it, but we think because its our baby that everyone must hear about it and be amazed. However, it is unique when Logan does things because he is brilliant you know!

I absolutely do not know where the time has gone. Logan was 7 weeks old yesterday. I look back at pictures of him when he was just a couple days old and see how much he has changed. It really doesn’t seem like its been 7 weeks already!

Logan really is smiling at us a lot more lately. Hopefully we’ll be able to catch one on camera soon. He has almost started laughing at us some, with a little bit of a cackle trying to form in his throat. It won’t be long. His little personality seems to be coming out a little bit, too. His fake crying is starting to come a little more frequently. He knows Mommy will be standing over shortly after his cries, but I’ve got his game figured out.

I’ve also learned to “never say never.” I swore our baby would “never” sleep in the bed with us. Ok, maybe I didn’t say “never” but I was pretty adament about not starting a “pattern” with him. HOWEVER, when you are running on a couple hours of sleep and snuggling him up next to you is the only way for him to be quiet, you’ll do what works! The other morning about 5 a.m. he was wiggling and grunting and would not settle down. So I finally reached over and picked him up and as I did, he grinned. Yes, he has me wrapped, but he’s only this little once and I just can’t help myself sometimes. He’s so darn cute.

I took some pictures of him right after a bath the other day. I thought they were cute because he was all bright eyed and cooing. I’ll attempt to post one here in the post, but I’ll also stick a couple in the photo gallery.

I actually put him down long enough today to get some washing and vacuuming done. If we didn’t have his swing, I don’t know what we’d do. He loves to swing and look at the fish dangling above his head! It doesn’t take long before he’s fast asleep. Praise the Lord for swings! Or else I wouldn’t get anything done!

This is officially my first post here on the family blog. Steven has been nice enough to post for us since we haven’t stopped long enough to sit down and write here ourselves. Thanks Steven.

Adjusting to motherhood has been very trying at times but extremely rewarding. I am exhausted most of the time, but I cherish every second that I hold him and look at him. Even if it is at 3 a.m. … especially at 3 a.m. He is still a very good baby and only cries when he’s hungry. He has already begun to recognize his mommy. The other night Alan was holding him and Logan was restless and a little fussy. I kept telling Alan to “snuggle him” and he said “I think he’s hungry.” I got Logan and “snuggled” him as I had instructed and he fell right to sleep. Alan said “Maybe he just wanted him mommy.” That really makes a new mom feel awesome!

Logan was one month old on Wednesday. I really can’t believe how fast the time has gone by! It doesn’t seem like he’s been here a month, yet I can’t remember what life was like before him. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. I’m loving every second. For the first few weeks of his life, I held him or stared at him every waking moment. But today is a historic day. He’s actually taking a nap in his CRIB. Not the cradle, but his crib, in his bedroom. (I’ll post pics to prove it, if I can figure out how.) So, I am taking some time to write in the blog, wash and fold some laundry (yes, I’m actually folding some laundry!), and grabbing a snack.  Its really odd to have him in the other room and not be freaking out about it. However, I have gone in there about 10 times already and checked on him. He must really like his crib because he is sleeping soundly.

Mom and I were curious as to how much he weighs now, so we did an experiment. I weighed myself on their scales at their house and then held Logan and weighed us both. According to that, he’s 10 lbs now. I really can’t believe that!

The other day it seemed as though he smiled on purpose at me. I don’t think it was gas. I walked over to the cradle as he was waking up and when he saw me he smiled. I really do think he recognized me and smiled. Seriously. My child is the most intelligent and brilliant one month old I know.

Well, I think I hear him stirring so I think I’ll go look at him again. Check out the pictures page, hopefully I’ve been able to post some new ones.

Thanks to everyone for all the prayers. Everything went great with Logan’s arrival and he’s a good natured, beautiful boy. Alan and I are the typical proud parents and love just holding him and staring at him. We’ve really enjoyed our first few days at home, even though it seems like we’ll never catch up on our sleep! Even those 3 a.m. feedings when I am falling asleep feeding him, I love every second of it!
