Taking a moment…
This is officially my first post here on the family blog. Steven has been nice enough to post for us since we haven’t stopped long enough to sit down and write here ourselves.
Thanks Steven.
Adjusting to motherhood has been very trying at times but extremely rewarding. I am exhausted most of the time, but I cherish every second that I hold him and look at him. Even if it is at 3 a.m. … especially at 3 a.m. He is still a very good baby and only cries when he’s hungry. He has already begun to recognize his mommy. The other night Alan was holding him and Logan was restless and a little fussy. I kept telling Alan to “snuggle him” and he said “I think he’s hungry.” I got Logan and “snuggled” him as I had instructed and he fell right to sleep. Alan said “Maybe he just wanted him mommy.” That really makes a new mom feel awesome!
Logan was one month old on Wednesday. I really can’t believe how fast the time has gone by! It doesn’t seem like he’s been here a month, yet I can’t remember what life was like before him. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. I’m loving every second. For the first few weeks of his life, I held him or stared at him every waking moment. But today is a historic day. He’s actually taking a nap in his CRIB. Not the cradle, but his crib, in his bedroom. (I’ll post pics to prove it, if I can figure out how.) So, I am taking some time to write in the blog, wash and fold some laundry (yes, I’m actually folding some laundry!), and grabbing a snack.  Its really odd to have him in the other room and not be freaking out about it. However, I have gone in there about 10 times already and checked on him. He must really like his crib because he is sleeping soundly.
Mom and I were curious as to how much he weighs now, so we did an experiment. I weighed myself on their scales at their house and then held Logan and weighed us both. According to that, he’s 10 lbs now. I really can’t believe that!
The other day it seemed as though he smiled on purpose at me. I don’t think it was gas.
I walked over to the cradle as he was waking up and when he saw me he smiled. I really do think he recognized me and smiled. Seriously. My child is the most intelligent and brilliant one month old I know.
Well, I think I hear him stirring so I think I’ll go look at him again. Check out the pictures page, hopefully I’ve been able to post some new ones.
